Who: Open to those on the mountain excursion
Where: Just leaving the camp site
When: Sunday late morning
What: Leaving will be harder than anticipated
Warnings: Here there be action

Breakfast had been eaten, records had been sealed in protective and magical casings, camp had been struck… it was time to head back to Peridexion. The transport-dragons had been laden down with the gear, and were just about to start boarding passengers when one of the smaller dragons suddenly called out an alarm. Hostiles spotted, hostiles incoming! They were dragons!

They weren’t actually dragons, but they were larger than the smallest dragon in the camp, and they were definitely reptilian. At least a dozen of the creatures were waddling towards the human portions of camp at double-time… or, well, what passed for double-time, for something that basically looked like a vivid green, fifteen foot komodo lizard with frog-like eyes and a wide, hungry-looking mouth. They snapped at each other as much as in the direction of their quarry, quarrelsome and obviously not used to traveling in a group, but they were still definitely incoming, and definitely hostile. The military among the expedition immediately set about forming a barricade against the civilians, and the transport dragons dove into the fray almost immediately. Any passengers already aboard, well... better hold on tight.

For the sharp-eyed, though, weaving among the monsters and goading them on, was, in fact, one singular dragon. Good luck catching that one, though.

Who: Open to those coming on the excursion to the mountains
Where: Beyond the city walls, directly west from Peridexion
When: Thursday through Saturday
What: Exploration and potential danger
Warnings: None yet

Setting up camp in a meadow just past the foothills took most of Thursday, once everyone made it to the assigned plot of land to survey. The tents were large enough to stand in and furnished with three cots and three small wardrobes each, and three camp lanterns with magical and oil switches. Camp food was surprisingly tasty, and rather fancier than one might expect for what was in essence a government operation.

Friday was when the real work began: topical surveys, geological surveys, sounding for water and minerals with both magic and technological equipment, cataloging local animal and plant life, and scouting for edible resources. Every survey team consisted of two or three people, usually military paired with a civilian or scientist. A few people were set to sentry positions and dragons were largely set to flyovers and fly-arounds, looking for trouble. There was a break for lunch, only an hour, but not much more than that until sundown. Saturday was more of the same, except at a harder pace, trying to get everything done before camp was to be torn down Sunday.

The only local signs of potential trouble came Saturday, and they were just that: signs. A thin plume of smoke in the distance; a single small, wild dragon spotted lurking around the edge of the survey area who flew away immediately upon being spotted; a few simple traps found around the edges of camp in the morning. Otherwise, things at camp were calm.

Who: Santiani and OPEN TO ALL!
Where: The newly opened club Dark Heart
When: Friday night
What: A grand opening!
Warnings: Alcohol and dancing and the occasional spell going awry, if someone walks in with one. Probably not more than that :)

After a few minor panic attacks in the morning over the lack of electricity, by nightfall things were thankfully back in order and everything was on schedule. Santiani prowled around his new domain, verifying everything was ready and waiting for the doors to open, long before they actually did open. Everything was checked and rechecked, and the employees harassed into what the fay considered readiness, and then, finally, at 8PM, the music comes on, the lights go dimmer, and the doors come open.

Those doors are big enough for almost the largest dragon-- a Regal would have to squeeze to fit inside-- just in case one happened to ever deign to show up. They were also dark glass, so one couldn't actually see inside past them. The foyer was broad and painted darkly, lit with little LED stars in swirling patterns, and opened to a much broader room with hanging lights, a bar to the left, and a dance floor to the right. Everything was dark colors with hints of brightness, as were the uniforms of the staff.

For tonight only, the age limit is eighteen... though if you spin a good tale, someone younger might slip inside. The music is loud, but not too loud for conversation, and the drinks are flowing, provided you have proper ID or, again, you spin a good tale.

The host flits about, sometimes checking on the bar or greeting guests as they come in, sometimes out on the dance floor, sometimes watching from a corner. He'll swoop in on anyone who looks lost, for certain, and see what he might to do help.

((OOC: Been around long enough to have met Friday and want to stop by? Someone sent you around because you need some heavy work done? Just wondering what the giant dragon shelter is on the edge of town? Come on by!))

Who: Friday and YOU
Where: Friday's home near the edge of town
When: Any time, any day! She's home most often after sundown, however.
What: Paying a call on the resident mountain of dragon

A house designed for a large, solitary dragon was, by necessity, quite simply designed. The building was large and square, with most of the inside space taken up by an enormous nest. There were a few storage boxes built along the walls like benches, and the only other room was a freezer large enough to be a walk-in for a human. The doors were massive, naturally, but had smaller, human-sized doors set next to them, and even a little human-sized table and a couple chairs set into one corner that saw precious little use.

Friday still had high hopes of visitors, some day.

The strangest part about the place was that it was decorated. Unless you counted hordes, dragons - particularly the large ones - weren't exactly known for interior design. And, well, it wasn't pretty, exactly. But it'd been painted enthusiastically in bright, foresty greens and yellows inside and out, and the walls were adorned with a few pictures, medals, and even a mounted military rifle. Everything was extremely orderly, tidy, and dust-free, perhaps betraying a bit of the dragon behind the dimwitted gentle giant routine she liked to put on.

The dragon herself spent most of her time there sleeping, snoozing, and thinking. But a visitor was always worth attention.

Who: OPEN TO ALL!
Where: The farms outside the city walls, then the park in the housing tract
When: Wednesday through Saturday
What: Farm work and well-earned barbecue
Warnings: None

The lazy days of orientations and exploration had given way quite suddenly to work... and not work necessarily suited to everyone involved, either! The harvest had to get planted, or else food come winter would be pretty scarce. In order to plant as much as possible, everyone in the city who couldn’t be spared from something else was being drafted-- everybody. Most were put to the fields to plow and sow, though some, whether having particular talents elsewhere or simply not enough stamina for moving about all day, got to sort seeds, move rocks in the way of the plows and tractors, and

Some of the farms were more modern than others, with tractors giving way to horse- and dragon-drawn plows, and some were more magical than others, automatic watering systems side by side with tiny, magical rainclouds. And some of the farmers were more friendly than others, particularly the one dragon-run farm and the tayafay-owned farm, both on opposite sides of the city.

By Saturday morning, the work was deemed complete, or as close to complete as one could reasonably expect, and the rest of the weekend saw the new residents free for resting up or fun, as they wished. More regular work, depending on what everyone had signed up to do, would begin on Monday. To make up for the often exhausting work of the past few days, Saturday evening saw the park at the center of the Knolls full of barbecues, fire pits, light of various kinds, and music: free food for all!

Who: OPEN TO ALL!
Where: The landing platforms, the gates into Peridexion, and around the city
When: Sunday through Tuesday
What: Arrival and orientation
Warnings: None as of yet

Sunday was the last day of arrivals for the first wave of Peridexion’s new residents, and it was one of the busiest as people with last minute commitments finally made the trip, people finished scrounging together their belongings or funds for their portion of the journey, or people just tended to put things off and wound up on the very last flights, trains, or bus and van caravans. The landing platforms in particular were full of dragons coming and going, often lingering too long while passengers fussed and getting in the way of the next arrival, who circled above waiting for a place to land properly. The gates to the city, where the cheapest transportation-- long-distance buses, mostly-- was finally arriving from the last passenger train for the season, were also bustling.

Current residents, whether volunteers or city employees, waited to greet newcomers. People were shown to their homes, whether via internal city dragon transport or horse-drawn carts full of luggage.

Those already settled in from earlier flights and earlier trains had another plan in store, and from Sunday through Tuesday, all new residents were assigned an orientation meeting and tour of the city. Participation was not mandatory… but it was certainly strongly encouraged, both as a good way to get to know the neighbors and a good way to learn about their new home. Besides, lunch (or breakfast, or dinner, depending on the time of the orientation) was provided for free.
